ESL/ELL Open Lab Montaukett Learning
Resource Center 226
Students for whom English in not their native language may be enrolled in either the 12-week non-credit English as a Second Language (ELL) program or in the intensive English as a Foreign Language (ESL) college preparation program. Both programs require students to work independently in the Lab in addition to classroom attendance.
Using a combination of computer-based and audio-based materials, students work to improve English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.
Students enrolled in the non-credit ELL program are required to work for 12 hours throughout the semester; students in the EF program are required to work for 14 hours. The ASC generates reports to classroom instructors several times throughout the semester to monitor student progress. Students are guaranteed to work one (1) hour in the Lab; students may work two (2) hours maximum, ONLY if no students are waiting to use the Lab. Students may never work more than two (2) hours in one day in the Lab.
ALL students are required to have an SCCC Student ID card in order to access the Lab.
Classroom consists of 15 Gateway PC computer systems.
The following printers are connected to each computer system.
