COL120 (PS30), “Portfolio Preparation”, is a "one-credit" course for adults who seek academic credit for college-level learning accomplished in non-traditional ways such as:

             • Paid volunteer work
             • Home management
             • Non-credited training
             • Travel
             • Independent study

Students will be provided with the necessary information and techniques for choosing a degree program and preparing a portfolio that describes and verifies the learning. The portfolio may be presented to the faculty for evaluation.

Evaluation of the portfolio for academic credit is not part of the course and is subject to a separate assessment fee at the time the portfolio is submitted.

Students considering enrollment in COL120 are required to attend an information session on credit for prior learning. The session, which covers credit by examination, as well as portfolio assessment, is scheduled by appointment.

To register for an information session, please call the Adult Learner Academic Programs office at 631-451-4696.
