The Suffolk County Community College Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center is conveniently located in downtown Riverhead. This $10-million facility opened in January 2008. This Center hosts the Culinary Arts and Hospitality, Baking and Pastry Arts, Hotel and Resort Management, Licensed Practical Nursing and Dietetic Technician programs as well as offering Continuing Education courses. In addition to our labs and classrooms, the Center hosts an on-premise student learning restaurant, the Bakers Workshop- Café & Bistro.

The culinary arts laboratory and the baking laboratory contain state-of-the-art learning lab with advanced kitchen equipment. Many non-credit and accredited cooking classes are offered in these labs.

A multipurpose room, which can be separated into four distinct classrooms, hosts many non-credit classes related to the culinary arts, hospitality management, viticulture, wine appreciation and restaurant management in addition to the many accredited classes offered in our degree granting programs.

The Subzero-Wolf demonstration theater, situated adjacent to the multipurpose room, boasts advanced start-of-the-art kitchen equipment combined with a multi-media instructional delivery package. The theater contains permanent seating for 60 people with PowerPoint, DVD, closed circuit TV and other capabilities available at your fingertips.

SMART classrooms are available throughout the facility with a seating capacity of 30.

Additional expenses may also be incurred for attendant, security, custodial or event supervisor.  College staff must be employed for any events held at College facilities.  Exceptions to this policy can only be made by either the Associate Dean for Educational Resources or the Executive Dean.

COLLEGE STAFFING FEES

Additional fees shall be due and owing to the College for College staffing expenses related to events.

Audio/ Visual.

-.Audio/Visual services are available in the Demonstration Theater, the Multipurpose room and all classrooms. AV equipment can only be operated by College personnel. Rates are $55 per hour which includes the cost of a College technician

Coat Room Attendant

An attendant is available at a rate of $17 per hour

Security Officer

A College Security Office is available at a rate of $34 per hour.

Building Administrator

The College may require the presence of a building administrator depending on the scope, nature and time of an event. A building administrator is available at a rate of $66 per hour.

Deposits and Payments

All charges related to either the rental of the facility, catering or personnel costs are to be paid to Suffolk Community College Association, Inc. A deposit of $100 is required with the facility reservation request. The deposit check must be made in the form of a check made payable to Suffolk Community College Association, Inc.   Fifty percent (50%) of the deposit is refundable up to two weeks prior to the scheduled date of the function in the event of a cancellation. No refunds are provided for functions cancelled within two weeks or less of the event. Payment balance must be made in the form of a check made payable to Suffolk Community College Association Inc and is due on the date of the function. 

Facility requirements

The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Center must be notified by 12 p.m .at least three business days prior to the function, as to the exact number of guests attending this function. This will then serve as your initial guarantee, not subject to reduction should a fewer number be served. If the amount actually served is higher than your guarantee, the higher number will be charged.

Overtime

Overtime is charged in the event that the function continues beyond the time agreed to between the College and the organization’s event manager.  Overtime will be billed at the hourly amount of:
