The Music Department at the Ammerman Campus has established itself as one of the leading community college music programs in the country. With course offerings and other opportunities that rival many four-year programs, students enjoy a unique learning environment that focuses on preparing them for a career in music. Graduates of our program have gone on to become successful in a variety of music fields, including education, conducting, composition, performance, therapy, arranging, law, songwriting, and audio recording.
The foundation of the program is our diverse and talented faculty. Not only are they scholars, but also active conductors, composers and performers. The fact that they are also active with music outside of the college lends even more credibility to their teaching, as they can support their classroom work with practical, real-world experiences.
The Music Department offers courses leading to an A.S. degree in music and allows graduates to transfer into Bachelor's degree programs as a junior. Some of the schools where our recent students have continued their music studies include: Mannes College The New School For Music, Stony Brook University, The Crane School of Music, Queens College, University of Miami Frost School of Music, Ithaca College, CUNY Sonic Arts Center, Westminster Choir College, SUNY Fredonia, Central Michigan University, and Berklee College of Music.
