Valerie Jean Brancato, Grant Campus Student Speaker
Valerie Jean Brancato, RN graduated on January 13, 2012 from Suffolk County Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nursing. Her degree in nursing was conferred with Highest Distinction and she was named to both the Phi Theta Kappa and Pi Alpha Sigma honor societies. She is a SUNY Chancellor Award Winner, a recipient of the Patricia Reckenbeil Scholarship, and is listed in the 2012 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. While at Suffolk County Community College, Mrs. Brancato was an officer of the Grant Campus Nursing Club and she is currently a member of the New York State Nurses Association, the Professional Nurses Association of Suffolk County, and the National Student Nurses Association. She has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and she plans to pursue her Master of Science Degree in Nursing in the near future. She has been an active member of Highland Church in Jamaica, New York for the last twenty-three years where she is the Health Team Ministry Leader and is a soloist in the church choir. Mrs. Brancato is employed with the FDNY as a Lieutenant and an EMT-Paramedic, is the wife of a NYPD Police Officer, and the mother of a United States Naval Academy Midshipman.
Jennifer Carall, Ammerman Campus Student Speaker
Jennifer Carall is a single mother of two children and is graduating on May 20, 2012 from Suffolk County Community College with an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Nursing. She is receiving her diploma with Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Alpha Sigma designations and has been on the Dean’s list. Jennifer serves as President of the Ammerman Campus’ Alpha Zeta Nu Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society for Two Year Colleges. She also serves as a Senator with the Ammerman Student Government Association and was named Senator of the Month. Jennifer was chosen as the Daniel B. DuPont Student of the Year and is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence. She was named to the All USA’s New York - 1st Academic Team and is listed in the 2011 and 2012 editions of the Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. Jennifer plans to continue her Baccalaureate and Masters degrees of Applied Science in Nursing at Stony Brook University.
