Effective July 15th 2016, the Associate Degree nursing curriculum offered at the School of Nursing at Suffolk County Community College has changed to now offer an Associate in Science (A.S) degree.Students currently enrolled under the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S) curriculum can complete their studies through May 31st 2019.
The Nursing curriculum is designed to prepare students for entry into practice as well as provide opportunities for students seeking transfer into a baccalaureate of science degree through articulation/joint admission agreements. Information on articulation agreements between Suffolk County Community College and potential transfer institutions can be found at http://www.sunysuffolk.edu/Students/TransferOpps.asp. Upon award of the A.S./ A.A.S degree, graduates are qualified to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Professional Nurses (NCLEX-RN).
The Practical Nursing certificate program is designed to prepare students for entry into practice, as well as provide opportunities for students seeking admission into Advanced Placement RN programs. Upon award of the Practical Nursing certificate, graduates are qualified to sit for the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN).
