Based on the huge popularity and great success of the interdisciplinary paralegal conferences organized by the Paralegal Studies Program at Suffolk Community College in May 2001 and May 2002, and the Paralegal Symposium in May 2006, we have decided to present our second Paralegal Studies Dinner Symposium on Friday, May 9, 2008, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Montauk Room of the Babylon Student Center on the Ammerman Campus in Selden, New York.
The speakers for this Symposium will be the Honorable Robert W. Doyle, Presiding Justice of the Appellate Term, New York State Supreme Court, Suffolk County; Frantz Deetjen, class of 2002, who has been accepted to George Washington University Law School; Teresa G. Donnellan, class of 1986, the Managing Partner in the law firm of Donnellan & Knussman; Christine Firestone, class of 1997, a paralegal for The Legal Aid Society – Suffolk County Senior Division and President of the Long Island Paralegal Association; Siobhan Geosits, class of 2006, a paralegal in the firm of DeSena & Sweeney; Dafny J. Irizarry, class of 2007, President of the Long Island Latino Teachers Association; Sandra Liccardi, class of 2007, a paralegal in the firm of Jerry Garguilo; and, Debra Rothengast, class of 1990, a Claims Manager for the City Underwriting Agency, Inc.
During and after the full buffet dinner, dessert and program, you will have plenty of time to network with other students, faculty and alumni from our Paralegal Studies program. This symposium will provide you with the opportunity to discuss and compare jobs, firms, areas of law, internships, salaries, benefits, legal practice and news in general concerning the legal field.
We are certain that you will find this Symposium to be informative, worthwhile and fun. The cost for the Symposium, including the full buffet dinner and dessert, is $10 for students; $12 for alumni; and, $15 for all others. Financial sponsorship for this event is being provided by the Office of Campus Activities, Pearson Prentice Hall, McGraw Hill, and Chicago Title Insurance Co.
