From its beginnings a half-century ago, Stony Brook University has been characterized by innovation, energy, and progress, transforming the lives of people who earn degrees, work, and make groundbreaking discoveries here. A dramatic trajectory of growth has turned what was once a small teacher preparation college into an internationally recognized research institution that is changing the world.
Stony Brook University offers three (3) full-tuition Stay on Long Island Scholarships. It is the University's intent to distribute the awards evenly among the graduates of the three SCCC campuses. These scholarships apply to fall tuition and require that students take at least 12 credits as matriculated students for consecutive fall and spring semesters and maintain a 3.0 GPA at Stony Brook University. Students must qualify for the New York State resident tuition rate. The award would cover a maximum of four semesters subject to Stony Brook's scholarship renewal criteria.
NOTE: Applying for the Stay on Long Island Scholarship is NOT an application to the college. You must apply for transfer admission separately by January 31 prior to the fall of your intended enrollment. You can do that online by clicking on the
Online Application link.
