Pvt. Wars by James McClure
The Theatres at Suffolk County Community College
present

Pvt. Wars
by James McClure

Set in the psychiatric ward of a veterans’ hospital, this play is
about soldiers coping with physical and emotional wounds.
It also delves into questions about America's political and
moral mission and its support of its fighting men. James McClure’s
Pvt. Wars seems a shocking anachronism in the parades and
platitudes atmosphere of post-Gulf-War America. Originally presented
in 1977 as a one-act and lengthened into two acts a decade later,
Pvt. Wars portrays the odd comradeship that develops among men
who have in common only the fact that they've fought and bled for
their country – whether they knew why or not.

Pvt. Wars
is directed by Steven Lantz Gefroh.

The House of Bernada Alba
The Theatres at Suffolk County Community College

The House of Bernarda Alba
by Federico Garcia Lorca

The greatest of modern Spanish tragedies is realistic and lyrical.
Bernarda is a stern matriarch obsessed with family honor. Just
widowed, she announces to her five daughters that they will enter
a traditional eight-year period of cloistered mourning. Each daughter
desires love but with the doors clamped shut, they silently turn to
other pursuits. The mourning period results in a tragic climax that
is unrelenting in its severity and terror.

The House of Bernarda Alba
is directed by Jo Curtis Lester.
