WELDING - MEC 211

Training is taught in a blended format of classroom, lab,

and an additional online learning component.

Participants will learn the skill of Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW). This course will also introduce the student to GMAW and GTAW. Additionally, after successful completion of all class testing, students will receive an AWS qualification in the 1" 4G and 3G welds. All welding training is aligned to AWS D1.1 standards, with an AWS certification offered to students. $3895 (includes all necessary equipment, books and materials, except helmet) Certification Fees separate

CNC Machine Operator - MEC 212

Training is taught in a blended format of classroom, lab,

and an additional online learning component.

 

Become a CNC Machine Operator and begin to open doors to the world of

computerized machining.

Long Island companies are in high-demand of qualified CNC Machine Operators

Machining students will be offered the opportunity to earn both the NIMS CNC Mill Operator 1 and Lathe Operator 1 certificate, the nationally recognized National Institute for Metalworking Skills certification. $3895.00 (includes books and materials)

To apply for Welding or CNC Machine Operator: non-degreed student

You may register at Suffolk County Community College for the Welding and CNC course in the same way that you can register for any other course: by coming to any of the three campuses and registering in person or online.

New students registering online, must follow the new non-degree student application procedure before registering. Use this form only if you have never attended or applied to SCCC, and you wish to take classes without being admitted to a degree program.
Prior applicants can register immediately online. If applying in-person, go to the Registrar department.

G-Code CNC Programming (30 hours)

Lathe and Mill Programming Classes

G-Code Programming students will learn to use the language to operate CNC machinery such as mills and lathes. Simulators will be utilized to learn and perform the programming tasks. $400.00 (5 sessions)

Mastercam 2018 (MEC136)

A computer-aided manufacturing software most commonly used by machine technology professionals. This course will cover creating 2D drawings and part programming using Mastercam to create CNC code for machining centers. $400

Advanced Mastercam 2018 (MEC146)

This course will cover 3D Solids creation from 2D wireframe geometry, 2D High Speed Dynamic tool-paths and its uses, basic plane creation and manipulation. This is an advanced Mastercam course for students who already have taken Mastercam (MEC136) or have previous Mastercam experience. $400

Soldering Specialist (MEC140)

Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies

Students will learn the requirements of J-STD-001 and related standards as they apply to operators and inspectors involved in the assembly of products. Participants will be offered to test for the IPC J-STD-001 Specialist certification.

  INTRO TO REWORK OF ELECTRONIC ASSEMBLIES (MEC141)
 

This course provides the student the introduction and overview of the rework and repair procedures of printed boards and electronic assemblies. The content will meet or exceed 7711/21 standards. Students will be given a completion certificate, testing for IPC is not included in this class.

AutoCAD for Industry (MEC125) 

The objective of this course is to introduce students to the drafting techniques and functions of AutoCAD, and how to apply those concepts to general and advanced technical drawings. This class will introduce the 3D capabilities of AutoCAD, utilizing knowledge of 2D Computer Aided Design and add the Z axis of 3D. This course will also provide the student with an advanced look at AutoCAD that will allow them to learn new and better ways of accomplishing the task at hand with better speed and accuracy.

INTRODUCING OUR NEWEST CLASSES:

Manufacturing Readiness Boot camp


This course was developed with input from local companies and covers a range of topics to provide students with the basic knowledge for entry-level employment in the manufacturing industry. The 84-hour course consists of approximately 24 sessions and presents topics such as basic hand tools, shop mathematics and industry terminology. Participants will use precision and semi-precision instruments to inspect parts, and work with hand tools. Introduction topics include manufacturing processes, CNCs, Welding, problem solving, and team work. This course will also offer all particpants a 10-hour General OSHA certification, and completion certificate, upon successful completion of class.

Job placement and paid internship assistance available.

Introduction to Industrial Mfg. Automation & Machinery Technologies

This course develops a basic understanding of the types of applications involved with industrial processes & manufacturing, and similar components & technologies used for automated production/assembly lines. It provides the technician with the basic tools used for the analysis and diagnosis phases of the troubleshooting process, including fundamental electricity, series circuits, motor controls, hydraulics and pneumatics, and programmable logic controllers.

Training is performed on Allen-Bradley and Festo modular controller systems.

Mechanical Assembly Training Program for Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

This course is designed to develop the skills needed for employment as a Mechanical Assembler and other related positions. A specific, small, structured, hands-on and classroom training program with support services. An entryway to employment or a gateway to further education in related programs. This course will also offer all participants a 10-hour General OSHA certification, and completion certificate upon successful completion of class.
